PRINCE2 is a structured approach designed for all types of management projects. It combines a lot of common sense with practical advise and a clearly defined structure.

I have not been able to find short comings yet, but as with any approach, they must be there.

Recently I advised alderman Baljeu and some VVD council members on the basics of Prince2. Prince2 is mandatory for project management in Rotterdam, but if I look in the international registry, it's hard to find project managers active within Rotterdam projects that qualified, not even if I restrict my scrutiny to them qualifying for the fundamentals. This leads me to the first pitfall, adopting an approach is no guarantee for success.
